Branding YouTube Videos Efficiently

22/10/2014 | By Vitally Zilber, Branding,Tutorial,YouTube

Branding is a great way to establish your identity and gain followers to your channel. All you need to do is to add a short intro animation with your slogan and company or channel logo. The shorter the intro the better. Remember, the branding intro animation is used to build your identity among other video producers, you are not trying to impress your viewers with over-complicated bored 30+ seconds animation of your logos slogans and other stuff. A simple few seconds long animation will do just fine for the branding and wont result in lost of interest of your viewers before they actually get to the content of your video beyond the branding part.

Update: as from march 2015 YouTube discontinued this feature.

It is very common that channel owners decide to redo the logo, or change animation for their channel. The problem here is that they gonna have to redo all existing videos with the new branding intro and re-upload these to YouTube channel. That means they loose all the existing links and view counts on YouTube.

To address this problem YouTube comes with a great solution of branding videos. YouTube let you add branding intro video to your channel and define it as a branding video for all or some of your videos in the channel. After some processing time, YouTube will add your branding intro video to all of your videos automatically. As you may expect, you can remove your branding intro video as well as to add a different one without breaking any links and view counts for your videos.

There is a limitation however, you branding intro animation must be shorter than 3 seconds, which is a smart thing, as I said before the shorter the intro animation the better.

Follow these steps to add a branding intro to your YouTube videos:
  1. Add your branding intro video with a regular YouTube upload. If you don’t have intention to share this branding intro video as a standalone video, I recommend setting the privacy of this video to “unlisted”.
  2. Go to InVideo Programming page and click on Add a channel branding intro. Select your branding intro video that you uploaded in step 1.
  3. You may choose to apply branding intro video to all of your existing videos or just to the videos uploaded after certain date. This option is great if you want to avoid double branding of your videos, by applying the branding intro only on unbranded videos.

In order to remove your branding intro video, just click on Remove at your Channel branding introduction section at the InVideo Programming page.

Adding and removing intros will take some time for YouTube to process all of your videos, so be patient.

In addition to this great future, from now on you will enjoy saving some time you were spending on branding your videos during production process as all your new uploaded videos will be automatically branded with your YouTube branding intro video.
